Arts against cuts joined with LSE and Southwark Save Our Services to occupy the office of Simon Hughes MP. Our demands were a clear answer on his intentions for the vote on tuition fees before christmas and a promise of the protection of EMA.

Hughes’ cowardly sidestepping of the questions in a phone call to us meant these demands could not be fully met that day. We made the decision to leave after the situation changed regarding whether the police were going to take action against us; we agreed that the situation was not worth getting arrested over and we left with a personal meeting arranged with Hughes.
