Print and distribute!
What’s so great about the arts? Are there any attempts brewing to go beyond the line that the arts are worth defending simply because they are about creativity and the soul? Is there any discussion of the role of the arts in both the economic set-up and also in maintaining strict class hierarchies in the occupations? Who is art for? Who gets to use art practically and economically? How does the defence of creatiivity fit in with the neoliberal agenda of individualised entrepreneurship and the continuing hope that the creative sector will revive the economy?
The occupations are great and the Turner Prize occupation was inspired but one more step now to really undermine the very reason why cuts are made in the first place….Capitalism and all it’s baggage – art, identity, roles, culture!
Would make the basis for some good workshops and actions!
we discussed a lot of this at length at the arts against cuts long weekend, come and get involved!
